About: Behind the Making My name is Clifford Petit, a SAFA fellow conducting research on natural
cancer treatments based off of specific entries in Gabriel Furman's journals. I was born in 1993 at Manhattan's Prebyterian Hospital prior to me moving to Huntington, NY a few years after. During my freshman year at Long Island University I was first introduced to the archives at the Brooklyn Historical Society via the SAFA program in my english and history courses. From there I learned first hand the significance of archival resources. As part of this summer fellowship at the Brooklyn Historical Society, I and 12 other fellows have been probing through Gabriel Furman's journals focusing on particular entries related to our interest whether it being architect, politics, religion, race, gender, health, illness and etc. then producing a presentable project at the end of the term based off our research. For my topic being health and illness, I believed creating a website would be the best medium for presenting my research on Garbriel Furman as well as my opinions towards herbal medicine to the public. |
